We are gearing up to manufacture our own unique food pouch for local partners Sirane and TCL Packaging in the retail trade. This is a follow-up to the export trade mission which saw us visit Chicago as part of the Department for International Trades first Midlands Engine trade mission.
Peter and Nick visited a factory in Chicago to source a new pouch machine. This six-figure piece of machinery will be used to create the packaging. As a result of this export deal, B&G were able to grow by more than 30%, this is on top of the 20%, which they have already seen for the past year.
As a result of this phenomenal growth, we are looking to create an additional nine production jobs over the next 18 months, which will boost our current workforce from 18 employees to 27 employees.
Peter had the following to say about this exciting time for the company “Everything has happened so quickly since participating in the trade mission, which is great news for us. We decided to take part because we wanted to show our newest products to the sector and also to source a factory that could provide the machine so that we could assemble the new food pouch”
It took a short amount of time before the trade mission became a success as “within days of us ordering the machine, we also received our first major export order, and we are looking forward to starting production within the next few weeks and supplying our new customer”. This goes to show how important these trade missions are to the industry, and we at B&G Products are looking forward to the future, without the Department of International Trades this deal would not have been possible.
Ian Harrison, Department of International Trade Acting Director of Exports and Investment in the Midlands said “This is a significant deal for B&G, which safeguards the company’s future and also enables it to invest in local jobs”
